In Northern Cyprus it is compulsory to register mobile phones brought from abroad (if you plan to use them formore than 90 days).
Failure to do so will result in the phone being blocked 3 months after entry.
It cannot be used to make calls or send messages.
Devices that use a local SIM card will be blocked.
If you have a foreign SIM card in your phone, it will not be blocked.

Registration takes place at the Bilgi Teknolojileri ve Haberlesme kurumu centre in Nicosia (Lefkosha).
At the entrance you will need to fill in an application form in English, give your name, phone model and its IMEI.

Be careful - if you have a dual SIM phone, the device must display 2 IMEIs.
Otherwise it will not be registered.
With your completed application form, take your coupon and go to the registration window.

The next step is to have your phone appraised by the centre's customs officer.
The amount of tax depends on the model and novelty of the phone, and it must be paid in cash.

This procedure is only done once and you won't have any problems with your phone afterwards.
